As of September first we still had a dozen or so rainbow trout in this pond. We have three ponds, this one and two smaller.
the sounds and beauty of water falling...
Water falls
These three ponds, all connected by waterfalls in the gardens surrounding the Garden Cottage, help to provide oxygen and life to the trout. Along the edges are endless varieties of wildflowers, including buttercups, growing in the lower fields; woodland creatures abound.

our totem pole
Totem & Gardens
This 20 foot totem pole was carved for the owners by master sculptor William Kooienga. It took 8 men, a truck and a back hoe to set it in place. That night it rained and the wind blew so hard we were afraid it would topple. I called William concerned, he chuckled and assured me it would always stand there. Our totem pole represents an honoring of all relations to the life and history, past and present of this land.

That's the Garden Cottage in the back.

This totem pole was carved by mallet and chisel, no chainsaw was used. Check out the detail of this work and imagine 20+ feet of this with intricate detail and perfect proportioning. William does custom work all over the United States, some years back he carved a 50 foot totem pole for Paul Allen on his Montana ranch.
He charges $1000 a foot.
